Abstract:

Background: With the increasing prevalence of diabetes in children and the resulting mental pressures, attention to these patients has become a health priority in the world. Psychological distress is one of the problems of these patients that affects different aspects of their lives. It seems that enduring psychological distress can affect the psychological problems of these patients. Therefore, the present study was conducted with the aim of determining the relationship between psychological distress and tolerance of psychological distress in children with diabetes in Zahedan city. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study. The samples included 200 children with pediatric diabetes referred to the diabetes clinic of Ali Ibn Abi Talib (AS) hospital in Zahedan and met the inclusion criteria. The data collection tool included the demographic information form and Kessler's psychological distress and Gaher's distress tolerance questionnaires, which were completed by interviewing the child. Descriptive and analytical data analysis was done using spss27 software. Results: 52.6% of all subjects studied were girls and the average duration of infection was 22.6 months. A significant relationship was found between psychological distress and tolerance of psychological distress (r = -0.65 p < 0.001). Conclusion: The findings showed that there is a significant and inverse correlation between psychological distress and distress tolerance. In other words, the higher the psychological distress tolerance, the less distress a person experiences. Therefore, it seems that in order to enjoy higher mental health in these patients, attention should be paid to improving their distress tolerance.

Abstract:

distress tolerance refers to the degree to which an individual is able to withstand negative psychological and or physical states. distress tolerance has increasingly been viewed as an important construct in developing new insights about the onset and maintenance of psycho pathology as well as its prevention and treatment. This article aims to review the theoretical and empirical bases of distress tolerance research. The research method is library studies and taking notes and reading documents. Inspection of the scientific literature indicates that there are a number of promising ways to conceptualize and measure distress tolerance, as well as relations between distress tolerance and psychopathological symptoms and disorders. But there also is notable conceptual and operational heterogeneity across the distress tolerance literature. A number of basic questions remain regarding the conceptual and operational definitions of the construct, itsrelations to other constructs and processes, its relations to psychopathology vulnerability and resilience, and its role as a treatment and preventive intervention target. Thus, the current paper provides a comprehensive review of past and contemporary theory and research and proposes key areas for future empirical study of this construct.Future research will make important contributions to our understanding of distress tolerance (s) and its role (s) in psychopathology vulnerability and resilience.

Abstract:

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of positive group training on distress tolerance and coping strategies in adolescent girls in foster care in Tehran, Iran. This study was quasi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design with a control and follow-up group. Among 85 girls in the foster care center, 30 girls between the ages of 12-17 were selected by convenience sampling and were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups (15 in each group). The instruments used in this study included distress tolerance Scale, Coping Strategies Questionnaire, and Positive Training Protocol. First, all subjects were pre-tested, and then the experimental group started a positive group training during eight two-hour sessions, but no intervention was performed on the control group. At the end of the intervention, both groups were compared by post-test. Also, to follow up, both groups answered the mentioned questionnaires after two months. Multivariate analysis of covariance with repeated measures was used to analyze the statistical data. The multivariate analysis of covariance results with repeated measures showed a significant effect of positive attitude training on increasing anxiety tolerance and coping strategies compared with the control group in nodules of homeless adolescent girls. There was also a significant difference between the two groups in the follow-up stage using a multivariate analysis of covariance. Also, the results showed stability in the follow-up phase between the two groups.
